Kitesurfing in Bora Bora
Steady trade winds, flat shallow water inside the barrier reef, and almost nobody else on it.

The conditions
The lagoon is protected by a barrier reef, so there is no ocean swell to fight and no shore break to launch through. The water is shallow across large stretches, which is exactly what a learner wants, and warm enough year round that a wetsuit is never needed by anybody, in any month.
When the wind blows
The dry season from May to October brings the steadiest trade winds, building through the late morning and holding into the afternoon. November to April is lighter and less predictable, but delivers glassy mornings and the warmest water of the year.
What level you need
Beginners can learn here, because flat shallow water forgives the mistakes that deep choppy water punishes. Experienced riders get an empty lagoon and a backdrop nobody at home will quite believe when they see the photographs.
How to book
